Lori Lewis - Executive Vice President

Lori LewisAs executive vice president, director of portfolio operations, Ms. Lewis oversees all acquisition underwriting/transaction management, financing and portfolio operations. Ms. Lewis directs a team of underwriting financing professionals dedicated to managing, underwriting, closing and financing acquisitions. She is also responsible for on-going portfolio operation activities and investor correspondence for KBS-advised programs and investors.

Ms. Lewis is a member of the Investment Committee, which evaluates and authorizes new investment opportunities for the firm. Prior to her role as director of portfolio operations, Ms. Lewis was vice president of acquisitions and director of underwriting.

Previously, Ms. Lewis was engaged in the valuation of commercial real estate through the affiliation of several Orange County based consulting and appraisal firms. During her 10 years of consulting experience, Ms. Lewis performed asset valuations on a multitude of institutional grade commercial, industrial, residential and special purpose real estate.

Ms. Lewis graduated from Biola University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Ms. Lewis is also a candidate for the MAI designation with the Appraisal Institute.



Kim Westerbeck - Senior Vice President, Financing

Kim WesterbeckAs vice president, financing, Ms. Westerbeck is responsible for sourcing, negotiating and closing the financing and refinancing of the company’s real estate.

Prior to joining KBS, Ms. Westerbeck spent over 14 years in commercial real estate lending with Pacific Life Insurance Company and Capmark Finance Inc.’s Principal Finance lending unit. Her experience includes the usual property types of office, industrial, retail and multi-family as well as specialty property types such as hospitality, condo conversions, golf courses and film production studios. Ms. Westerbeck has had the opportunity to be involved in construction lending, mezzanine and bridge lending, CMBS and REIT bond underwriting and both buying and selling large loan syndications.

Ms. Westerbeck graduated from California State University at Long Beach with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and has successfully completed several classes with the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the Appraisal Institute.



Robert M. Durand - Senior Vice President, Financing & Mortgage Originations

Robert DurandAs vice president, financing, Rob Durand is responsible for developing lending relationships, and negotiating and closing the financing for the company’s real estate assets.  Mr. Durand also serves as vice president, mortgage originations, where he sources, structures, underwrites and closes first mortgages and mezzanine loans on behalf of the KBS REIT* and KBS REIT II*. 

Prior to joining KBS, Mr. Durand was a vice president in JPMorgan Real Estate’s CMBS group, and was responsible for the origination, structuring and negotiation of CMBS, construction, bridge and mezzanine loans.  Mr. Durand also spent over 10 years at Babson Capital Management (a subsidiary of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company), most recently as a managing director, charged with sourcing, underwriting and closing commercial real estate loans.  Mr. Durand’s transaction experience totals over $2.3 billion and includes office, industrial, retail, multi-family, and hotel properties, fixed and floating rate loan structures (portfolio and CMBS), first trust deed, mezzanine/structured finance, bridge loans and large portfolio financings.

Mr. Durand is a native of Southern California and a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and Loyola High School.  He has also been awarded the CCIM designation.
