KBS Realty Advisors Names Robert Durand VP of Financing and Mortgage Originations

Newport Beach, CA - November 10, 2008: KBS Realty Advisors, one of the nation’s leading commercial real estate investment advisors, has announced the appointment of Robert Durand to vice president of financing and mortgage originations for the Newport Beach, Calif.-based company.

In his dual role, Durand will be responsible for developing lending relationships, and negotiating and closing financing for KBS real estate assets, as well as sourcing, structuring, underwriting and closing first mortgages and mezzanine loans on behalf of the company’s two publicly offered non-traded REITs, KBS REIT I and KBS REIT II.

Durand comes to KBS from JPMorgan’s Real Estate’s CMBS (commercial mortgage-backed securities) Group, where he handled the origination, structuring and negotiation of CMBS, construction, bridge and mezzanine loans. Prior to that, he spent more than 10 years at Babson Capital Management, a subsidiary of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, most recently as managing director.

Throughout his career, Durand has been responsible for more than $2.3 billion in office, industrial, retail, multi-family and hotel property transactions arranged through fixed- and floating-rate loan structures, first trust deed, mezzanine/structured finance, bridge loans and large-portfolio financing.

A resident of Laguna Beach, Calif., Durand is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, and has been awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation.
